Pubs
The
tradition of the English country pub is flourishing in Ryedale.
This part of North Yorkshire is blessed with some of the best pubs
in the country.
The
following selection of pubs is based purely on my biased view of
what constitutes a good pub. Some of them (not all) have
their own web sites with current menus etc. if they have, just
click on the image to link to the web site.

431356This is,
in my opinion, the best village pub around for good value food
and a great atmosphere. Jenny and Ian will always give you
a warm welcome. No need to drive, it is about 40 yards from
Holly Beck - if that!
BBC’s Greedy Pig review of the Plough;
“Excellent home cooked food with a good choice of meals
available. Sunday lunch is excellent too.
There is a restaurant if needed but we prefer to eat in the bar. I
recommend the chicken specials. The food is good value for
money
with an average cost of £6 to £9
This
is a friendly local bar selling all the usual beers lagers etc.
with a mixture of visitors, caravanners and locals. You
will always receive a friendly welcome.”

out-of-the-way inn for good company and good food has spread far
and wide. It won the Egon Ronay Pub of the Year Award
for 2006 (the second time it has won this award) and has been awarded a Michelin Star for its excellent
cuisine. Many famous people have supped here, from J B
Priestley to Michael Caine.
